Pregnancy and Antenatal Care

There are midwife-led clinics run by midwives from Simpson's Reproductive Medicine Unit. If you have recently found out you are pregnant, please contact the midwives on 536 2009.

Health Visitor services

For all new mothers, babies and children up to 5 years old.

Health visitors are available for advice all day (08:00 – 16:00) on 669 8060. If no one is available there is an answer machine where you can leave your details and we will call you back as soon as possible. You may find the Family Health tab on the right helpful.

There is a facility for weighing babies at any time in the clinic room. Parents are encouraged to use the baby weighing scales as required. Please discuss with the health visitors.

Baby and child immunisations

Immunisation clinics are held usually on a Thursday morning. You will be sent your baby's first immunisation appointment at eight weeks. Thereafter parents should arrange their own appointments for the next two immunisations. Your baby's immunisations and any concerns you may have will be discussed when you attend for his or her first developmental assessment at about eight weeks of age. You will be asked to sign a consent form at that assessment - only a parent or guardian can sign this.

The safety of immunisations is well established and there are very few genuine contra-indications.
